Spring Schedule of Classes

All Classes/Workshops are FREE - Call 376-7774 to Register

Space is limited so be sure to register prior to the start of classes. All classes are held at the Family Enrichment Center in Grafton. Limited childcare may be available for workshops - please call to inquire. Child must be registered for childcare prior to the start of class; please include child’s name and DOB at time of registration.

Play Group

Meets 2nd Monday and 4th Friday of the month (January 9 - May 26), 9:30-10:30 am

An open and interactive group for parents and their children age 0-4. Using books and activity stations centered around themes, come and play with your child while interacting with other parents in our safe and fun playroom! Enjoy different toys, ideas to try at home, and parents and children can make new friends or bring friends you’ve already made! Space is limited. Please call ahead to reserve a spot! Facilitated by Parents as Teachers Staff.

The Incredible Years

Wednesdays February 8 - March 29, 6:00-8:00 pm (refreshments provided; childcare available)

This 8-week evidence-based parenting program is designed to help promote the social, emotional, and academic success of kids ages 2-14. Parents learn how to prevent, reduce, and treat emotional challenges in children through a positive and nurturing approach. The course introduces developmentally appropriate and consistent responses to increase children’s self-esteem, reduce conflict in the home, and promote a strong and healthy family. Facilitated by Katie Baud, MSW, Counselor and Family Steps Coordinator.

Brain Games for Babies 0-12 Months

Tuesday, February 14, 10:00-11:00 am

Early Childhood experiences play a dramatic role in determining how a child’s brain is wired. Learn fun games to optimize your child’s social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play in this hands-on parent and child workshop. Facilitated by Parents as Teachers Staff.

Sensory Motor Fun

Tuesdays, March 7- March 28, 10:00-11:00 am

Come Join an Occupational Therapist from Ozaukee Therapy in a parent and child class for toddler and pre-school aged children. This class will allow for children to explore their senses. Parents will do fun learning activities with their child and receive educational information about how to manage sensory-related issues within the home and community. Tough Topics: Child Abuse/Neglect in Ozaukee County

Tuesday, March 7, 6:00-7:30 pm

Do you ever wonder how frequently kids around here experience abuse or neglect? Or maybe you have questions about when and whom to call if you are concerned about a child’s safety? This workshop will help parents and community members:

* Learn strategies for teaching children about being safe and telling when they don’t feel safe;

* Discuss what to do if a child tells.

* Review the most up-to-date statistics and resources related to child abuse.

Facilitated by Amanda Didier, MS, CSW, Forensic Interviewing Specialist for Ozaukee County Department of Human Services.

Fostering Attachment: Healing Strategies that Work!

Tuesday, March 21, 6:30-8:00 pm

Susie Miller, LPC and Kate Carpenter, MA will talk about how early attachment relationships set the foundation for the rest of our lives. Facilitating secure attachment with children and adults involves the development of healing relationships. In this workshop, parents will work on strategies for creating healthy, healing relationships with children, resulting in improved attachment. Susie works in private practice at Blue Stone Counseling in Mequon and Kate is a mental health professional at Rogers Memorial Hospital.

Raising Your Spirited Child

Tuesday, April 4, 6:30-8:00 pm

For parents of children who are more intense, persistent, resistant to change or generally spirited than most to learn positive ways to work with your child’s spirit and temperament. Facilitator: Kathy Bergmann, Parent Educator.

Potty Time

Thursday, April 27, 6:30-8:00 pm

For parents of toddlers who are ready (or not!) for potty training, this workshop covers your questions about how to ditch the diapers. Experienced parent and pediatrician Dr. Hagerman of Cedar Mills Medical Group will provide parents with information, answer questions, and help shed some light (and humor) to parenting through potty training.
